From a few items on a shelf to a fully stocked store, Gerlie Ramirez’s small business has seen remarkable growth, thanks to support from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) through its Magnegosyo Ta ‘Day (MTD) program.
A resident of Barangay Zone 4-A Doña Enrica in Talisay City, Gerlie is among the latest beneficiaries of the OVP – Panay and Negros Islands Satellite Office where she received a ₱15,000 livelihood grant in January 2025, which she used to expand her sari-sari store.
Gerlie shared that the income from the store now helps support her family’s daily needs, including the school expenses of her three children. More importantly, it also contributes to the ongoing medical needs of her youngest son, Acezequel, who was born with congenital anomalies, including a cleft lip.
“‘Yung pang araw-araw po pag nakabenta ako, binibili ko po agad ng ulam para ma-ruling ko talaga — ‘yung baon sa paaralan, pang araw-araw na pagkain nila, tapos minsan nabibili ko ng gamot,” (With my daily sales, I immediately use the earnings to buy food for our meals, cover my children's school allowance, and sometimes, I’m even able to buy medicine,) Gerlie said.
Baby Acezequel, now three years old, had previously received medical assistance from the OVP for his condition. Gerlie expressed her gratitude to the Vice President, saying that her son’s cleft lip has already been treated and he is currently in the final stage of recovery.
The MTD program is one of Vice President Sara Duterte’s flagship initiatives aimed at empowering Filipinos with sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Through programs like MTD and its medical assistance initiatives, the OVP continues to reach out to families in need across the country, offering not just temporary relief, but long-term empowerment and support.

Bukod dito, bahagi rin ng kita ay inilalaan para sa gamutan ng bunsong anak na si Acezequel, na isinilang na may congenital anomalies kabilang ang cleft lip.

Ang MTD program ay isa sa mga pangunahing inisyatibo ni Vice President Sara Duterte na naglalayong bigyan ng oportunidad ang mga Pilipino na magkaroon ng sariling hanapbuhay.
