Several sacks of trash were collected along the coastline of Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City, Cebu, during a clean-up drive led by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) through the OVP–Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor Satellite Office.
The Office of the Vice President broadens its environmental efforts under its flagship program, the PagbaBAGo: A Million Trees Campaign. As part of its goal to plant one million trees over six years, the OVP is also actively conducting clean-up drives to help protect the country’s natural resources.
Recently, the OVP–Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor Satellite Office organized a coastal clean-up activity in Sitio Kagang, Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City. Volunteers from various sectors, along with representatives from the local government of Talisay City joined the activity, demonstrating a collective commitment to environmental stewardship.
Among the participants was retired military officer Col. (Ret.) Nicodemo Navarro, who emphasized the importance of taking an active role in caring for the environment.
“Everyone has a responsibility to protect nature. By participating in activities like this, we contribute to preserving our surroundings for future generations,” Navarro said.
The clean-up drive resulted in the collection of several sacks of waste along the coastline, highlighting both the continuing problem of marine pollution and the impact of community-led environmental action.
“Kami mapasalamaton kaayo sa Office of the Vice President sa ilang gihimong coastal clean-up diri sa among barangay, (We are very grateful to the Office of the Vice President for conducting this coastal clean-up in our barangay),” said Hydellin Rafols of Barangay Dumlog.
Through its 10 satellite offices across the country, the OVP continues to bring its programs and services closer to communities while promoting civic engagement and environmental responsibility.
The PagbaBAGo: A Million Trees Campaign remains one of the OVP’s flagship environmental initiatives, encouraging communities to take part in practical and sustainable efforts to conserve and protect the environment.
