Since 2023, the OVP-BARMM Satellite Office has been providing Janazah Kits to help grieving families observe essential Islamic burial rites.
As part of its continuing commitment to serve diverse communities across the country, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Satellite Office continues to distribute Janazah Kits under its Medical and Burial Assistance Program.
Deeply committed to serving the Moro community, Vice President Sara Z. Duterte values not only the Muslim community's vital role in society but also the richness of its culture and history. This respect is reflected in the inclusion of Janazah Kits—specially curated to support the Islamic funeral rites of departed Muslim Filipinos.
The Janazah Kit initiative began in 2023 through the OVP-BARMM Satellite Office and has since aided grieving families in fulfilling essential Islamic burial rituals. Each kit contains necessary materials for the Janazah process, such as white cloth (kafan), cotton, soap, gloves, and other cleansing essentials.
Ustadh Haron Alimpang expressed his gratitude in an interview, saying, “Itong Janazah Kit po na ito isang inisiyatiba po ng Office of the Vice President ay napakalaking halaga po nito sa amin na mga kapatid na Muslim dahil ‘di basta-basta mailibing (ang pumanaw) kung wala po ito (Janazah kit) kaya ganito ito kahalaga at napakalaking tulong po nito para sa amin,” (This Janazah Kit, an initiative of the Office of the Vice President, is of great importance to us, our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters, because we cannot simply proceed with a burial without it. That’s how vital it is—and it has been a tremendous help to our community.)
According to data from the OVP-BARMM Satellite Office, a total of 50 Janazah Kits were distributed in 2024. For the first four months of 2025, 21 kits have already been handed out to families in need.
This culturally-sensitive initiative demonstrates the OVP's responsiveness to the unique traditions and needs of the Muslim community—ensuring that dignity, respect, and faith remain central even in times of loss.

Bilang bahagi ng patuloy na layunin ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) na makapaglingkod sa iba’t ibang sektor ng lipunan, ipinagpapatuloy ng OVP – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Satellite Office ang pamamahagi ng Janazah Kits sa ilalim ng kanilang Medical and Burial Assistance Program.
Malapit sa puso ni Vice President Sara Z. Duterte ang Moro community. Kinikilala niya hindi lamang ang mahalagang papel ng mga kapatid na Muslim sa lipunan kundi pati na rin ang yaman ng kanilang kultura at kasaysayan. Patunay dito ang inisyatiba ng Janazah Kits na nagbibigay suporta sa mga ritwal ng libing ayon sa pananampalatayang Islam.
Sinimulan ang pamamahagi ng Janazah Kits noong 2023 sa OVP-BARMM Satellite Office at patuloy na tumutulong ito sa mga pamilyang nawalan ng mahal sa buhay upang maisakatuparan ang mga kaukulang ritwal ng paglilibing ayon sa Islam. Kabilang sa laman ng bawat kit ang mga kagamitang kinakailangan gaya ng puting tela (kafan), bulak, sabon, gloves, at iba pang gamit panlinis.
Sa panayam, nagpaabot ng pasasalamat si Ustadh Haron Alimpang:
