The OVP Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor Satellite Office reached the northernmost town of Daanbantayan shortly after midnight to deliver much-needed aid to affected residents.
Hundreds of families in the area remain without electricity and access to potable water more than a week after the powerful tremor. The OVP team immediately distributed relief packs and rice food bags to help meet the community’s urgent needs.
Among those affected is Emily Rondin, who shared how she and her family narrowly escaped danger during the quake, “Sabi nila gawas, gawas. Hindi pa ako lumabas dahil malakas pa. Pumunta kami sa bakante, lakaw mi tanan silingan,” (They told us to get out, but I hesitated because the shaking was still strong. When it finally stopped, we went out and ran with our neighbors to an open area.)
Emily and her family are now staying temporarily on a vacant lot after their home sustained heavy damage. Despite the challenges, she expressed deep gratitude that her family survived unharmed: “Pasalamat kay ligtas mi bisan pag na-crack na akong balay, salamat gihapon. Ang importante buhi pa akong mga anak. Daghang salamat sa tanan mitabang sa amoa,” (I’m thankful that we’re safe even though our house is cracked. What matters most is that my children and I are alive. Thank you to everyone who helped us.)
The OVP continues to remind residents to remain alert and cautious, as aftershocks are still being felt in parts of northern Cebu.
Vice President Sara Duterte extended her condolences and words of encouragement to those affected by the earthquake: “We ask God to grant comfort to those who have lost loved ones, and to provide relief and strength for those holding their families together amid property loss and damage,” she said. “May you find strength in one another and may the legendary Visayan warmth and resilience shine through amidst this deep sorrow.”
The OVP reiterated its commitment to supporting recovery efforts and helping affected communities rebuild their lives in the aftermath of the disaster.

Pasado alas-dose na ng hatinggabi nang marating ng OVP Cebu, Bohol, at Siquijor Satellite Office ang pinakahuling bayan sa hilagang bahagi ng probinsya — ang Daanbantayan — upang maghatid ng agarang tulong sa mga apektadong residente.
Libo-libong pamilya sa lugar ang hanggang ngayon ay wala pa ring kuryente at malinis na tubig na maiinom makalipas ang higit isang linggo mula nang maranasan ang mapaminsalang lindol. Agad namang nagsagawa ng pamamahagi ng relief packs at RIICE food bags ang OVP upang tugunan ang mga pangunahing pangangailangan ng mga residente.
Isa sa mga apektado ang kababayang si Emily Rondin, na ikinuwento kung paano sila nakaligtas ng kanyang pamilya mula sa mapanganib na pagyanig: “Sabi nila gawas, gawas. Sa ngayon, pansamantalang naninirahan si Emily at ang kanyang pamilya sa isang bakanteng lote matapos masira ang kanilang bahay. Sa kabila ng hirap ng kanilang kalagayan, labis pa rin ang kanyang pasasalamat na ligtas silang lahat: “Pasalamat kay ligtas mi bisan pag na-crack na akong balay, salamat gihapon. Ang importante buhi pa akong mga anak. Daghang salamat sa tanang mitabang sa amoa,” (Nagpapasalamat ako na ligtas kami kahit may bitak na ang aming bahay. Ang mahalaga, buhay pa ako at ang aking mga anak. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng tumulong sa amin.)
Patuloy namang pinaaalalahanan ng OVP ang mga residente na maging maingat at alerto sapagkat patuloy pa ring nararanasan ang mga aftershock sa ilang bahagi ng hilagang Cebu.
