The Office of the Vice President, through its Wheelchair Assistance Program, continues to provide relief and support to Filipinos, including those with impediments or persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The initiative aims not only to assist beneficiaries in performing their daily activities more comfortably but also to ease the burden on families who struggle to afford mobility aids due to financial constraints.
Among the newest beneficiaries of the program is Roger from Lipa City, Province of Batangas, who suffered a stroke in 2019. According to his family, financial challenges prevented them from acquiring the immediate and necessary medication for Roger, which eventually worsened his condition.
While Roger is still in recovery, his family noted that the wheelchair provided by the OVP helps improve the patient’s mobility, making daily care more manageable.
Amid the OVP’s significant budget constraints, it reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining programs that prioritize the welfare of Filipinos, including PWDs, senior citizens, and other underprivileged and underserved sectors across the country.
