Beneficiaries patiently line up at the OVP – Panay and Negros Islands Satellite Office to receive vital assistance.
Thousands of Filipinos across Panay and Negros Islands have received critical medical support through the initiatives of the Office of the Vice President (OVP), under the leadership of Vice President Sara Duterte, who has championed accessible healthcare since assuming office in 2022.
Through the Panay and Negros Islands (PNI) Satellite Office, the OVP has built strong partnerships with various medical institutions to deliver much-needed assistance to indigent and financially incapacitated patients.
To date, the PNI Satellite Office has worked hand in hand with 51 district hospitals participating in the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIF-IP) program. In addition, the office has partnered with 13 private hospitals, 2 diagnostic centers, and 10 pharmacies across the region, all contributing to the seamless provision of medical support.
Among the key partners is The Doctors’ Hospital Incorporated in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, which began its collaboration with the OVP in 2022. Jehu Irmano, Credit and Collection Section Head of The Doctors’ Hospital, noted the positive impact of the partnership, particularly for underprivileged patients.
“When it comes naman po sa Office of the Vice President, nagbibigay po sila ng assistance doon po sa aming mga patient na na-hospital dito po sa Doctors’ Hospital. Kini-cater po namin sila through sa aming medical social services, sa aming social worker,” (When it comes to the Office of the Vice President, they aid patients who are admitted here at The Doctors’ Hospital. We accommodate them through our Medical Social Services, handled by our social worker,) Irmano said.
He further shared that the hospital has extended assistance not only to Bacolod residents but also to patients from neighboring areas who have benefited from the OVP’s medical programs.
“Ang Doctors’ Hospital po ay kilala po hindi lang dito sa Bacolod pati na rin po sa Negros Occidental saka Oriental so some of our patients is coming from outside Bacolod City, so kahit taga outside sila ng Bacolod, kini-cater po sila ng Office of the Vice President basta they need the assistance,” (The Doctors’ Hospital is well known not only in Bacolod but also throughout Negros Occidental and Oriental. Some of our patients come from outside Bacolod City, and even if they’re not from here, the Office of the Vice President still provides assistance as long as they are in need,) Irmano added.
He also noted the significant relief and comfort that the partnership with the OVP has brought to many patients.
The OVP’s ongoing engagement with local healthcare providers underscores its commitment to inclusive public service, ensuring that quality healthcare remains within reach for vulnerable communities across the region.
