As the country marks National Cancer Prevention Month this February, Vice President Sara Duterte underscored the importance of discipline, vigilance, and early detection as our strongest line of defense in battling against cancer.
While advancements in the medical field continue to improve cancer treatment and care, Duterte stressed that the disease, described as “silent adversary”, can be overcome through timely detection and preventive measures.
VP Sara also urged the public not to wait for pain or discomfort before seeking medical attention, emphasizing that early detection plays a decisive role in survival. While regular health screenings are not optional, but a necessary step in protecting one’s health.
“Our habits today shape our future,” VP Duterte added.
She also calls Filipinos to observe and adopt balanced diet and healthy lifestyles, describing these not merely as personal choices but as safeguards for the well-being of loved ones.
She further emphasized that health is not only an individual concern but a shared responsibility to one’s family and community, and fostering a culture of prevention reflects the nation’s commitment to valuing life.
Beyond medical care, Vice President Duterte called on Filipinos to strengthen community support systems for cancer patients and their families, highlighting the importance of compassion, solidarity, and collective action to ensure that no Filipino faces cancer alone.

“Our habits today shape our future,” saad ni VP Sara.
