Vice President Sara Z. Duterte expressed her gratitude to all who serve in the education sector, praising their hope, empathy, and dedication to the success of the Filipino youth.
In her message, Duterte emphasized that teachers serve as nation-builders despite facing challenges such as overcrowded classrooms, limited resources, and heavy workloads: “Teachers not only shape the future of a nation, but they also fortify the values that hold a nation together, and in a democracy, instill the importance of freedom and the protection of our rights.”
The Vice President extended her salute to all Filipino teachers in the Philippines and abroad, describing them as a force that nurtures the dreams of children and strengthens the country’s future. She highlighted the crucial role of teachers in cultivating critical thinking among students, especially in the age of misinformation and disinformation.
“Nanggagaling sa mga guro ang pundasyon ng kaalaman ng mga kabataan at bahagi kayo sa paghubog ng kritikal na pag-iisip. Mahalaga ito sa panahon ng fake news, misinformation, disinformation at iba pang media at social media content na naglalayong manipulahin ang katatohanan at tama,” (Teachers provide the foundation of knowledge for the youth, and you are part of molding their ability to think critically. This is vital in an era of fake news and manipulative social media content,) Duterte noted.
She urged educators and communities alike to prepare the youth for a path grounded in truth and integrity, while also instilling hope, faith, and love in every learner.
VP Sara highlighted this commitment must accompany the collective effort to guide aspiring professionals—from doctors and lawyers to teachers, police officers, and others—toward success: “Magkaisa tayo sa pagtiyak na lumaking may talino, may dunong, may malasakit at pagmamahal ang mga kabataang Pilipino. Happy Teacher’s Month. Mabuhay ang ating mga guro!” (Let us unite in ensuring that young Filipinos grow up intelligent, wise, compassionate, and loving. “Happy National Teachers’ Month. Long live our teachers!)

Binigyang-diin niya na ang malasakit, at dedikasyon ng mga guro para sa tagumpay ng kabataang Pilipino. Sila ang mga tagapagtatag ng bansa sa kabila ng mga hamong kinahaharap tulad ng masisikip na silid-aralan, kakulangan ng pasilidad, at mabibigat na gawain.
