In a video message, VP Sara emphasized the vital role that LGBT individuals play across various sectors of society, from government and industry to communities and families stating that; “Every day, countless LGBT Filipinos bring not only their exceptional talent and expertise, but a transformative courage that strengthens our families, enriches our communities, and elevates our government institutions.”
Duterte also acknowledged the challenges faced by many in the LGBT community, including workplace discrimination, barriers to healthcare, and mental health struggles brought on by marginalization. She described these as real burdens that must be addressed with empathy and policy.
“Pride reminds us that our shared humanity has the power to heal these wounds. It stands as living proof that our diversity is not a weakness to overcome, but a wellspring of resilience and creativity,” Duterte said.
Moreover, highlighting the connection between LGBT rights and democratic values, the Vice President called on all Filipinos to protect the nation’s most vulnerable. “When we safeguard LGBT rights, we reinforce the foundations upon which all our freedoms rest,” she stressed.
She concluded her message by envisioning a more inclusive Philippines—one that recognizes diversity as central to the national identity and treats human dignity as a right, not a privilege.
“Let us build together a Philippines where diversity is recognized not as incidental, but essential to our national character. Where human dignity needs no justification. Where the courage to face adversity is honored as the highest expression of Filipino resilience,” she affirmed.
