Vice President Sara Z. Duterte received a warm welcome from the people of Bislig City as she joined the community in celebrating its 25th Charter Day.
In her message, the Vice President emphasized the importance of unity in building a strong and resilient community, highlighting Bislig’s century-long journey from its founding as a town in 1921 to its cityhood 25 years ago.
“Your journey, from your founding as a town in 1921 to your cityhood 25 years ago, is a testament to this inexhaustible strength. The strength of Bislig lies in this resilient community. You are a people who have united diverse groups—from our indigenous communities and fishing families to our agricultural workers and public servants—all working together for shared prosperity,” VP Sara said.
The Vice President also praised the city’s continuous progress, citing its iconic natural wonders and thriving industries as symbols of development and resilience: “This harmonious development, from the majesty of Tinuy-an Falls to your thriving aquamarine industry, shows our nation that the communities with the deepest roots and strongest character are those that have learned to thrive through every challenge.”
Duterte reminded the Bisliganons that greater autonomy also comes with greater responsibility, urging the city’s leaders and residents to safeguard its history and legacy for future generations.
Looking forward, she expressed her hopes for sustained growth in the years ahead: “May the next twenty-five years see you continue growing—rooted in your values, reaching toward new possibilities, and always ready to be the lifeline others desperately need. Padayon sa pag-uswag, Bislig ug mga Bisliganons. Happy 25th Charter Day!”
