Vice President Inday Sara Duterte spearheaded a tree planting activity, organized by the Office of the Vice President–BARMM Satellite Office in Biniruan, Poblacion 9, Cotabato City last May 6.
The event marked a significant milestone, held immediately after the formal opening of the OVP’s new office location in the area.
Biniruan, once considered a conflict-affected community in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), was chosen as the site for this symbolic initiative.
For the OVP, the tree planting activity held special meaning—each seedling representing a new beginning, a renewed hope for peace, and the restoration of both the environment and the community.
Similar efforts were also carried out by the OVP in Barangay Reina Regente, Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur, where around 1,000 fruit-bearing trees such as lanzones, mango, and rambutan, were planted.
The activities were made possible through the collaboration of the OVP with the local government of BARMM, barangay volunteers, and other community partners.
This initiative is part of the continuing "Pagbabago: A Million Trees Campaign," one of the many flagship programs under the leadership of Vice President Sara Duterte, aimed at fostering environmental sustainability and community resilience.
