Vice President Sara Duterte recently visited Filipino communities in Doha, Qatar and The Hague, Netherlands, where she engaged with overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and expressed solidarity with their concerns and aspirations.
In Doha, Vice President Duterte joined a Thanksgiving Mass held at the Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, attended by members of the Filipino community. During the Mass, prayers were offered for the safe and immediate return of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, who is currently under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Netherlands.
Following the religious gathering, a simple get-together was held at a food court in Villaggio Mall. This provided the Vice President an opportunity to personally listen to the stories, experiences, and concerns of OFWs based in Qatar. In her remarks, she extended her heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality shown by the Filipino community.
Meanwhile, in The Hague, Netherlands, Vice President Duterte visited a photo exhibit titled “Rodrigo Roa Duterte: The People’s President,” organized by Filipinos in honor of the former president. The exhibit highlighted key programs, projects, and achievements during Duterte’s administration.
She also served as the guest of honor at a large gathering of OFWs in The Hague. Many in attendance voiced their call for the immediate repatriation of former President Duterte to the Philippines.
In response, VP Sara reaffirmed the Office of the Vice President’s commitment to protecting and promoting the welfare of OFWs across the globe. She emphasized that her office remains open and ready to support the needs and rights of overseas Filipinos.
The Vice President’s visits underscored the administration’s recognition of the vital contributions of OFWs and the importance of maintaining close ties with Filipino communities abroad.
