Vice President Sara Duterte honors the vital role of women in society in a special video message for National Women's Month.
As the nation celebrates National Women's Month, Vice President Sara Duterte has emphasized the vital role and significant contributions of women in society.
“Across all sectors, Filipino women are at the forefront of change—leading in governance, driving innovation, and strengthening communities. Our resilience and contributions shape a more inclusive and progressive society,” Vice President Duterte stated in a video message.
She also highlighted the pressing issues that continue to threaten the safety and dignity of many women, stressing that these challenges must not be overlooked.
“We cannot ignore the alarming reality that violence against women and children and human trafficking continue to threaten the safety and dignity of many. From domestic abuse to online exploitation and trafficking, gender-based violence remains a persistent barrier to women’s empowerment,” she added.
The Vice President called upon all Filipinos to take collective action to address these concerns.
“Let us work together to strengthen our laws, improve access to justice, support survivors, and challenge the deeply rooted norms that enable violence. Every sector of society—government, private institutions, civil society, and individuals—must work together to break the cycle of abuse and exploitation. Together, let us build a future where no woman fears for her safety, where every girl can pursue her dreams without fear of violence, and where equality is not just a goal, but a lived reality,” VP Sara urged.
National Women’s Month is observed every March, as declared under Proclamation 227 signed in 1988. It was further reinforced by Republic Act No. 6949, recognizing the rich history of women’s contributions worldwide.
