With a proud smile, Senior High graduate Elize Diwa, a You Can Be Vice President participant, walked up the stage to receive her well-earned award—a symbol of her hard work and ambition.
Elize Diwa, one of the standout participants of the You Can Be Vice President (YCBVP) program, has successfully graduated from senior high school with honors and a Leadership Award, marking another milestone in her journey as a young leader in Lubao, Pampanga last April.
Vice President Sara Z. Duterte recognized Elize in a speech during the YCBVP Pasidungog ceremony, describing her as a determined and driven student who embodies the core values of hard work and ambition.
“One of the program participants was Elize. She embodies someone who knows what she wants — but also knows that she must work hard to get it. We selected Elize as a You Can Be Vice President participant, and she joined me in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in February,” VP Sara said.
Elize was among five students nationwide chosen for the YCBVP program in 2024, an initiative designed to inspire and empower youth through firsthand exposure to leadership and public service. As part of the program, she joined Vice President Duterte in Malaysia for a regional event led by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Council (SEAMEO).
The experience proved to be transformative. Upon her return, Elize was elected Student Council President of Sta. Cruz Integrated High School, where she recently completed Grade 12.
“Ngayon ga-graduate po ako na may Leadership Award dahil po sa You Can Be VP, dahil po dun na push po ako na mag run bilang Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) President po tapos ngayon, pinangaralan po ako ng Leadership award po. Sobrang saya ko po!” (Now I’m graduating with a Leadership Award because of You Can Be VP. It pushed me to run as SSLG President and got the leadership award. I’m so happy!) Elize said.
Elize’s achievements reflect her commitment to self-improvement and service. With eyes now set on college, she plans to pursue a degree in Public Administration, aiming to further understand the essence of public service and deepen her role in nation-building.
As she reflects on her journey, Elize extended a heartfelt message to Vice President Duterte, expressing deep gratitude for the support and opportunities the program provided.
(To Vice President, I just want to say a heartfelt thank you — because of her, I was able to achieve all of this. She truly inspired me to study harder and keep fighting for my dreams. My confidence has also grown so much compared to before. Thank you so much!) Elize said.
Her story stands as a testament to the transformative power of education, mentorship, and perseverance. In her own words and actions, Elize shows that while the road to one’s dreams may not be easy, the rewards of dedication and resilience are always worth it.

Isa sa mga piling kalahok ng You Can Be Vice President (YCBVP) program ng Tanggapan ng Pangalawang Pangulo na si Elize Diwa, ay matagumpay na nagtapos sa senior high school na 'with honors' at natanggap din ang Leadership Award nitong Abril sa Sta. Cruz Integrated High School noong Abril.
Thank you po!” aniya.
